Wed, 11 Mar 2009 07:34:00 -0700 #ecommerce tip #4 - Get yourself a store on ebay. http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/ecommerce-tip-4-get-yourself-a-store-on-ebay http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/ecommerce-tip-4-get-yourself-a-store-on-ebay

Ebay is a fantastic method of selling your goods online. I have sold mid-high end expensive not flat packed furniture for a client previously and it is well worth the effort.

It helps generate extra interest via phone, people ask questions about your goods, which is great for business.

Store inventory format is a great way of listing all your products on a regular basis for a low cost, where you pay a final value fee but can list your products at a fixed price.

Just remember;

  • all transactions must be processed within ebay (avoiding fees is a no-no)
  • dont link out to your website, you can link to email addresses and internally within your ebay store
  • dont state that you accept cash or dont accept paypal
  • you have to accept paypal until you reach a feedback of 100 or more.

Visit ebay stores to get one today.

Mon, 02 Mar 2009 00:11:58 -0800 #ecommerce tip #3 - If your store is a personal one, then let your customers see you. http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/ecommerce-tip-3-if-your-store http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/ecommerce-tip-3-if-your-store

If your company is just you and you are happy with that, then let customers know and add your photo so that your customers can quickly relate to who they are doing business with. Its a great way of maintaining a very personal website.

Adding your photo to your about us page is usually the best place for the photograph, just make sure its a good one.

If you still want to portray a bigger company image, then simply make a reference to other staff and ensure you mention that you are the owner / ceo etc.

Sun, 01 Mar 2009 01:36:15 -0800 #ecommerce tip #2 - Setup google analytics! and get monitoring what your customers are doing when they visit your website... http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/ecommerce-tip-2-setup-google-a http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/ecommerce-tip-2-setup-google-a

Google Analytics is a fantastic tool for seeing what your customers do when they visit your website, it lets you see what pages they visit, where they came from on the internet, whether they made it through to buying your products (with a bit of advanced setup), where they left your website (bounce rate%) right down to what pc and browser they are using.

If you are not currently using it then I advise you get it installed.. it can be also used to track your online marketing efforts effectively.

If you find installing it yourself daunting then we can install it for you for a very reasonable fee.

Hi All,

Recent events, my own families experiences and life in general has finally prompted me to start giving something back, however have upto now always put off. I have since decided that all current projects and future projects will involve donations of some form and I will soon be setting up a regular personal donation.

The recent harrowing story involving Jade Goody has also hit home, so.

I have created a page on JustGiving.com in order to help support Cancer Research UK.

Any donation of any size would be fantastic, "lets do business 4 Cancer Research" and be positive.

Take a look at my website for a free article containing some Google Adwords Tips

Essential for avoiding an account from hell.

In case you are not aware Google Adwords is a method of advertising in their search engine results and other websites where you pay-per-click when someone clicks one of your ads.

The amount you pay per click really depends on your business model and how much experience you have.

If used correctly it can be used to wield fantastic results.

Mon, 01 Dec 2008 00:16:00 -0800 Do you know who visits your website? http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/do-you-know-who-visits-your-we http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/do-you-know-who-visits-your-we

If the answer is no, then you are missing out on valuable business data which in my eyes is crucial to a websites success.

So how do you see who is visiting?

By using Google Analytics, which is a very powerful analytics package for websites. It allows you to monitor who is visiting your website, the path they take, where they drop off and more.

One of the more advanced features and one which is great for testing your more important routes, such as checkout process, or tutorials is the goals function. This allows you to monitor how far along the route they get and suggest whether there may be a problem, which needs addressing.

All essential in determining where your website needs improving, monitoring your online marketing efforts and more.

Installation can be difficult if you are not technically minded, which is why I include it for free with my Google Analytics Training Courses, which are designed to give you a full understanding of how to use it and how it can benefit your business.

Sat, 29 Nov 2008 13:17:00 -0800 Tappin' to the base... http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/tappin-to-the-base http://thewebinspector.posterous.com/tappin-to-the-base

If you are running an ecommerce store online, then Google base is a fantastic way of generating some excellent free targetted traffic for your products. You will need to sign up for a google account to use this, simply click login on googles homepage in the top right.

All you have to do is simply tell Google about your products via the use of a text document.

It is the first thing I suggest to my clients as the only cost involved is your time. Although it can be a) time consuming and b) can be technical.

Alot of the ecommerce packages including JShop, OScommerce and Zen Cart to name a few have modules / addons available which export your products to Google base, which makes life so much easier.

Googlebase can also be used to promote services and classifieds too so may work for other businesses also.

Head over to Google, type in a search and hit "Shopping" to see where I am talking about.

What are you waiting for?
